Wimbledon Common Golf Club GDPR Privacy Notice

The General Data Protection Regulation has come into force. GDPR is a new set of European regulations that replaces the existing Data Protection Act. It sets guidelines for the collection and processing of personal information.

What is personal information?

Personal information is any information that can be used to identify you. The information we hold and how we can use it depends on your membership category.

Personal information we collect from you will be: 

  • Personal contact details that you provide on your application form that allows us to contact you directly such as name, title, email addresses and telephone numbers 
  • Date of birth 
  • Gender 
  • Records of your interactions with us, such as emails and other correspondence 
  • Records of your attendance at any competition 
  • Images in photographic form 
  • Any payments we receive from you or bank details you provide so that we can make payments to you. 
  • CDH number

How do we use your Personal Information and how do we keep it safe?

You are a current member of Wimbledon Common Golf Club (the Club) and we use your information to update you on competitions and social events occurring at the Club. If you have joined any of the internal groups within the Club, for example, the W.A.G.G.S, the members of the relevant committee will send you newsletters and invitations to events from time to time.

We also include your name and telephone number in the club diary, issued to every member annually.

We share your personal information with Howdidido.com, England Golf and Surrey Golf. We also share your details with our club professional, Jeff Jukes. They keep your handicap details and competition records up to date. By sharing your information with them, we are able to extend any invitations we receive for national and regional competitions.

We may also be obliged to share your personal information with our insurers, should we need to make a claim.

We have confirmed that these third parties each have a policy to keep any personal information they hold on our behalf safe and secure.

We process your personal data solely to provide services to you as a member of the club or as you have instructed us.

We will keep your personal data safe and secure.

How long will you keep my personal information?

We will keep your personal information for as long as you are member of the club. If you cease to be a member, we will ask you at that time if you would like us to retain your personal information so we can invite you to social events and keep you updated on news from the Club. We will also retain your personal information if we are required to contractually by our insurers or if we are subject to a legal requirement to do so at that time. This will be for a maximum of 10 years.

Can I change my details?

You are in control of your data. You can contact us at any time to change the data we hold and how you want to be contacted by us.

Can we also remind you that if you have registered in the membership section of our website, this will also contain some of your personal information.

Please can we ask you to check that your details are correct. If you leave the club we will delete your account. You can check this information at www.wcgc.co.uk.
